Words to live by this week:
"Happiness consists not of having, but of being; not of possessing, but of enjoying. It is the warm glow of a heart at peace with itself... Man is the CREATOR of his OWN happiness; it is the aroma of a life lived in harmony with high ideals.
William George Jordan
We create our own happiness, people. You are what you think.
Nesquik is my favorite drink here in the PERU, mixed with some warm milk. Milk is different here. Sold in small boxes, and definitely not as good as the stuff in the United States, in my opinion.
Jenny and I went with our neighbors, whose apartment we robbed for the semester, to the local market, called ANTIPLANO, which, equals a maze full of shoes, clothes, soap, fruit, nuts, restaurants, tights, coats, pirated DVD's, music, indigenous people, EVERYTHING. Vendors occupy tall, little spaces and sit all day waiting for people to pass by and buy their goods.
You can find everything there, you just need patience and good eyes.
We went to the Resource Center today like usual, anticipating this weekend. Sadly, our first workshop planned for this weekend on the beach was CANCELLED. Too many flock to the beach on the weekend, so no hotel for us hopeful interns to stay there for the weekend.
Not having started teaching the workshop yet makes things frustrating, but if I've learned one thing, it's PATIENCE and POSITIVITY. Communicating and being immersed in a different culture is DIFFICULT, but so rewarding. We've kept busy on other classes we've been taking, and have plenty to do.
it's cold.
I heard it was 8 degrees Fahrenheit today in Utah, and that made me feel happier about our daily rainshowers and 60-ish degree weather and the NUBLADO, or constant cloudiness.
